GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after a man who was found with head injuries outside a house in Mayo died.
A post-mortem has been carried out by the State Pathologist Marie Cassidy and the death is being treated as a homicide.
Joseph Deacy of St Albans in England was discovered outside a house at Gortnasillagh, Swinford on Saturday morning.
The 21-year-old was taken to hospital after gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene by a passer-by at around 6am.
He was brought to Mayo University Hospital by ambulance but he was later removed to Beaumont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Sunday evening.
A forensic examination of the scene has been carried out and an incident room has been established at Claremorris Garda Station. A family liaison officer has also been appointed.
