DUN LAOGHAIRE COAST Guard was called to assist yesterday, after a woman became stranded on the side of Whiterock cliff in Killiney.
The 23-year-old’s father raised the alarm, after his daughter got into difficulty attempting to recover a drone that had crash landed.
The drone had been taken to Whiterock beach for testing and became caught on the cliff face.
The man’s daughter “scrambled up the cliff face about 30ft and got to a point where she could not go any further, neither up or down,” the Dun Laoghaire Coast Guard said.
It deployed its service, a Coast Guard helicopter was also tasked with attending the scene, and a call was put in to Greystones Coast Guard cliff climbing unit.
The cliff climbing unit was alerted due to concerns over the close proximity of Dart lines to the woman.
A member of the Dun Laoghaire Coast Guard managed to reach the spot where the woman was trapped, and Rescue 116 lowered a winchman to bring her to safety.
She was successfully lowered to the beach below.
“Well done to all involved,” the Dun Laoghaire Coast Guard said.
