A 32-YEAR-OLD man accused of murdering Dublin grandmother Patricia O’Connor, whose remains were found scattered across the Wicklow mountains, has been further remanded in custody.

Kieran Green, with an address at Mountain View Park in Rathfarnham, Dublin, faced his third hearing when he appeared again before Judge Victor Blake at Cloverhill District Court. Judge Blake remanded Green in continuing custody to appear again at the same court on 17  August.

He is charged with the murder of Patricia O’Connor. The killing allegedly took place at Mountain View Park between 29 May and 30 May last. Directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions have been sought.

At his first court hearing on 15 June, Detective Garda David Connolly had said at 11.28 that morning, Green was arrested at Bray garda station. He replied,“it was self-defence” to the charge after caution.

He was also granted legal aid after the district court was told he was on social welfare and has an adult and four children as dependants.

O’Connor (61) was first reported missing on 2 June. Later, human remains were discovered scattered in a 30km area across the Wicklow mountains, including a human head and arms in a plastic bag.

Comments are off as legal proceedings are ongoing.
