Morning fog and thunderstorms: This week’s weather is looking pretty autumnal

Erik G

THE WEATHER FOR the last few days of August will be decidedly autumnal – with a mix of sunny spells, heavy showers, fog and even thunder.

It will be bright and fresh today, according to Met Éireann – with highs of up to 17 degrees.

After a cool night with temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees we’ll have a dry and sunny day again at first tomorrow – however showers will become widespread later, with occasional thunder.

On Thursday, we can expect occasional thunderstorms again by the afternoon – again, cloud is likely to build throughout the morning after a dry start.

Fog will linger throughout the morning on the first day of September, on Friday – but after a cool start temperatures will reach up to 17 degrees in the afternoon.

The forecast for the weekend is looking pretty nice: there’ll be good sunshine about on Saturday with highs of 19 degrees, and on Sunday temperatures could even hit 20. There may be some rain along the west coast on Sunday, however.
