POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING after a pig’s head was left at the door of an Islamic Centre in Co Down last night.
Graffiti was also painted on the wall of the building at Newtownards. The animal’s head and the graffiti was reported to police at around 11.15pm.
A couple of hours later, graffiti was also painted on the wall of a building in the Castle Street area.
Police say they are treating the two incidents as hate crimes.
Chief Inspector Hazel Reid said, “At approximately 11:15pm last night it was reported to police that a pig’s head had been placed on the doorstep and graffiti painted on a wall of a building.
Shortly after 1am, it was reported that graffiti had also been painted on the wall of a building in the Castle Street area. Both [of] these incidents are being treated as hate crimes.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
