THE LATEST TOURISM figures show there was a fall-off in visitors to Ireland for the month of July.
While overall, there was a boost in overseas visitors of 3.8%, Tourism Ireland said they are concerned about the decline.
Fáilte Ireland said that in order to prevent a further reduction in numbers, those in the industry must focus on competitiveness to ensure that Ireland remains good value for money.
“The industry must also step up to the plate and ensure that an Irish visit remains good value. If we were to lose our reputation as a good value destination, it may take us years to recover it,” said Paul Kelly, CEO of Fáilte Ireland.
What do you think? Is holidaying in Ireland good value for money or do you think costs could be a reason why tourists from some countries are staying away this summer?
